With a time of 04:01:59, the Brazilian Guilherme Manocchio won “the most beautiful race in the world”, he reached the first place in the competition realized in the south.
In the second place arrived his countryfellow Santiago Ascencio, and in the third position, the Northamerican Michael Lovato.
The Chilean Valentina Carvallo got an important second place in the female competition, with a time of 04:40:23, just 1 minute and 16 seconds behind the competitor from Switzerland Carla Stampfli.
Despite of the fact that all the people believe that the Argentinean Daniel Fontana was the favorite, the defending champion from the 2011 version, had a puncture in his bike that caused inconvenient in his race.
The race started at 7:45 with the competitors in the Villarica Lake. 1900 meters of swimming, then 90 kilometers of cycling with two laps until the crossroad in the Palguin hot springs, to finish the race with 21 kilometers running.
“This is the first time I won an Ironman 70.3. I was here in the year 2007 and I finished in the 5th position. I’m happy, because it was a hard race, especially in cycling. Besides, in this competition there are very good athletes, for that reason it was not an easy race”, said Manocchio.
