VALENTINA CARVALLO IS THE SECOND CHILEAN TO CLIMB THE PODIUM IN THE AGROSUPER IRONMAN 70.3 PUCON

The triathlete from Universidad Catolica ended the competition with a time of 04:40:23 and in the second place, just behind the athlete from Switzerland Carla Stampfli, the one with a time of 04:38:03. “I’m very excited”, said at the end of the competition.

“Vale” was about to take the first place, indeed in the cycling stage was the leader for some moments, in a hard dispute with Carla Stampfli. Finally, the Swiss arrived first in the second transition and in the running stage; she took even more advantage and ended up with the victory in this new version of the Agrosuper Ironman 70.3 Pucon 2012.

Despite of this, Carvallo was happy, because she exceeded her fourth position in the year 2011, thus, climbing the podium for the first time.

I’m very happy, yet in the running stage I needed more effort, I was 30 seconds to be first, but in general this is a victory to me, this race is very hard”, she said.

Talking about the race, she said; “From the cycling stage until the running one, the slope of the peninsula is tough, you won’t believe it but at the end you don’t have reaction from your legs, you just have to resist in the descends, I needed more energy, but I’m happy anyway.

With this result, the athlete from UC became the second female competitor who climbs the podium in our country.

In the third place ended the athlete from USA Heather Gollnick.
